We’ve all heard of using graphic organizers for organizing our thoughts when writing, but did you know that there are at least 4 other ways to use graphic organizers in your classroom!? Graphic organizers can be used to organize information, plans, ideas, etc.(organigrammes) avec tes élèves?

#1 Planification de l’écriture fiction
Ce sont probablement les organigrammes les plus utilisés. Ces organigrammes aident les élèves à séparer les parties importantes de leur écriture. Des organigrammes communs aident avec les personnages, l’idée principale et schéma narratif. Graphic organizers for fiction writing allow our students to brainstorm and be creative while still being able to write a well-organized, thoughtful text.
#2 Planification de l’écriture non-fiction
French graphic organizers for nonfiction texts are less common in the younger grades but still hold a great deal of use. Do you do research assignments in class? Do you have your students write a paragraph on a specific topic? Ces activités sont parfaites pour l’utilisation des organisateurs graphiques. Même si les élèves n’écrivent pas une longue histoire, iels (3e personne singulier neutre) peuvent utiliser un organigramme pour structurer leurs arguments et leurs détails.
#3 Organiser la lecture
Les organigrammes pour la compréhension de lecture peuvent être très similaires aux organisateurs pour l’écriture mais l’élève les utilisent de façon opposée. Rather than having the students fill out the organizers with their own thoughts, they use it to deconstruct the text they are reading to help with their comprehension.
#4 Organiser la compréhension orale
Graphic organizers are great for listening comprehension such as movies, documentaries, podcasts, Ted Talks, etc. Les élèves peuvent regarder/écouter et remplir l’organigramme pour démontrer leur compréhension du sujet. Cette activité t’assure que tes élèves sont engagés et ça t’aide à voir s’ils comprennent ou non. Movie days don’t necessarily mean a free period haha.
#5 Organiser une réponse à l’orale
Les organigrammes peuvent aussi être utilisés pour aider à planifier une réponse (un discours) à quelque chose que l’élève a lu ou a entendu. Have the students fill out the main ideas as well as their thoughts and opinions on the topic to help them formulate a thorough and organized response that can be done either verbally or in written format. Cette activité sera peut-être mieux pour les élèves un peu plus âgés car l’idée de répondre à quelqu’un est peut-être plus complexe mais essaie-le! Tu ne sais jamais ce que tes élèves peuvent faire sans essayer!

Just looked at your graphic organizer and think this will be super helpful! I teach high school and am the only French teacher in the building, so it’s a one-woman show for all levels (1-5)!
I put the graphic organizer booklet in my cart, but before I check out, I am wondering if you have anything that can be used for Christmas…cultural activities, games, etc…Wanted to mix things up for the end of the month–before the holiday!
